Welcome to Little Explorers Nature Club

Designed for curious minds ages 2–10, our Nature Club and Backyard Club invite children and their families to slow down, dig in, and discover the wonders of God’s creation together.
Each week, we explore a new nature-inspired theme through rich stories, hands-on activities/creative crafts, sensory exploration, and plenty of time for unstructured play.

Each week, children receive a themed fact sheet and a nature badge (a pin-back button!) to celebrate what they’ve learned and explored — a meaningful way to track their adventures throughout the season. Families enrolled in a seasonal session also receive a Little Explorers backpack to hold and display their growing collection of badges.

We carefully select living picture books that spark curiosity, invite wonder, and highlight the beauty of God’s creation. Some of our favorite reads have included Owl Babies, Fletcher and the Springtime Blossoms, Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter, I (Don’t) Like Snakes, A Seed Is Sleepy, The Honeybee, and Fungus Is Among Us.
Two Unique Ways to Explore
Nature Club:
We meet weekly at rotating outdoor locations in and around the Bowie, MD area. Exact locations are shared with registered families to help keep our group small and safe. Nature Club mornings center around nature walks, outdoor storytime, a themed craft or activity, and free play and exploration in forests, fields, or along the water’s edge.

-
Nature Walk & Exploration: A child-led walk through forests, fields, or along the water’s edge. We slow down, observe closely, and discover the beauty woven into the world around us.
-
Storytime in the Wild: A carefully chosen living book read outdoors, bringing the weekly theme to life and inviting thoughtful conversation.
-
Hands-On Nature Craft or Activity: Simple, meaningful crafts or experiments inspired by our theme, with gentle parent involvement.
-
Nature Badge & Fact Sheet: A themed pin-back badge and illustrated fact sheet to take home — a tangible way to remember and track each week’s discoveries.
-
Unstructured Outdoor Play: Time to climb, build, imagine, play in the mud and explore freely in a natural setting.
-
Community & Connection: Families walk alongside one another — children form friendships while parents connect and encourage each other.

Backyard Club:
Hosted in our Backyard Learn, Play & Explore Studio, this session offers a more sensory-rich, play-based environment. Children enjoy storytime and rotate through themed sensory bins, hands-on learning invitations, and crafts while still enjoying outdoor time and connection. Backyard Club balances gentle structure with creative freedom in a cozy, community-centered setting.

-
Themed Learning Invitations: Rotating hands-on stations, sensory bins, building trays, nature investigations, and creative prompts.
-
Cozy Storytime: A rich living picture book that anchors our theme and sparks curiosity.
-
Creative Craft & Sensory Exploration: Process-based art, tactile activities, and engaging projects that invite children to touch, build, and create.
-
Nature Badge & Fact Sheet: A themed badge and fact sheet to celebrate what they’ve explored and learned.
-
Balanced Free Play: A blend of structured learning and open-ended backyard play — sensory bins, mud kitchens, loose parts, and imagination at work.
-
Community & Encouragement: A welcoming space where moms connect, younger siblings are included, and friendships grow naturally.

What Makes Us Different
Our sessions are semi-structured, Charlotte Mason–inspired, and rooted in a Christian worldview. We focus on cultivating wonder, connection, and joyful learning in the great outdoors. Parents and caregivers stay and participate, making this a shared experience for families—not a drop-off class. While the children explore, play, and build friendships, moms connect and form meaningful relationships of their own.

Ready to Join the Adventure?
We would love to welcome you and your little explorers into our community. Whether you are brand new to nature play or already spend hours outdoors, there is a place for you here.
Little Explorers isn’t just another children’s program. It’s a space where muddy boots, storytime under the trees, and shared discovery build connection — between children, between parents, and with the Creator of it all.

If this sounds like what your heart has been searching for, come join us. We would love to welcome you to our next session.
